Åpne Muligheter (translated as “Open Opportunities”) is dedicated to providing aid and comfort to people in need in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as Eastern Europe. Open Opportunities collects, transports and distributes humanitarian aid and gifts to organizations and institutions such as orphanages, prisons, needy families and people in extreme circumstances.

Since its inception in 1998, Open Opportunities has distributed an average of $700,000 per annum in the form of donated aid.

To ensure, to the best of its ability, that the donated goods end up in the hands of the most needy, Open Opportunities works hand in hand with local government offices and NGOs in the target communities to identify low-income or otherwise disadvantaged individuals and families. Through partnering with organizations “on the ground” which share a history of involvement and commitment to the same standards of accountability and non-discrimination, effective and targeted distribution is enabled.  read more…

Adds Grant Montgomery, Director of Programs for Family Care Foundation, “On average, Open Opportunities collects and distributes $23 worth of needed humanitarian aid for every $1 it receives in cash from donors, certainly outstanding when compared with other organizations.”
